“Cultivating the Homestead Community
The Prairie Homestead is pleased to co-host the Homestead Blog Hop with 3 other fantastic homesteading bloggers:
Amy from Homestead Revival,
Kendra from New Life on a Homestead,
and Megan from A Blossoming Homestead.
The purpose of the Barn Hop to cultivate the homesteading blog community as we get to know each other better and share tips, news, and information.
We encourage you to stop by every Monday and share your latest homesteading posts with us!
Need some topic ideas? How about-
- A tour of your homestead- we would love to look around your garden, barn, home, chicken coop, yard, etc!
- The latest happenings in your kitchen: successes or even failures (aka learning experiences!)
- Animal stories, tidbits, news, photos, and updates
- Innovative homesteading ideas that have made your life easier
- How you became interested in homesteading
- How you involve your children or grandchildren in your lifestyle
- Information about what kind of food you produce at your homestead- milk? eggs? meat? veggies?
- New varieties of vegetables or fruit that you’ve grown
- Seed saving, food preservation, canning
- Frugal ideas/tips for the homestead
- Get creative! The sky is the limit!
Some Simple Guidelines for Participating in the Hop:
1. Remember to provide a link back to the Homestead Barn Hop in the post that you share. Feel free to grab the banner at the top of this post and use it to link back to us!
2. Please link to a specific post, not your blog’s main page.
3. If you don’t have a blog, share your latest homestead updates in a comment on this post!
4. Have fun! Visit some new homesteads and made some new friends!

Hi, my husband and I are currently in the process of buying 38 acres in north western PA. We want to start a homestead, but we haven’t done as much research as I would have liked. When we decided that this was definitely the direction we wanted to go we started looking at properties to get an ideally what was out there and this one we are buying showed up. We realized it was too good (bank owned and selling fast) so we put a bid down and it was accepted. Now things are happening quite fast.
I was hoping to be in contact with other homesteaders who can offer me knowledge and experience. I don’t have a computer with Internet, just my smartphone. So surfing the the net and reading blogs on my tiny screen is not ideal. Would any or all of you consider emailing or phoning me and starting a conversation that will hopefully calm my panicked mind, and offer me insight on practical steps to take.
I deeply appreciate your time,
Tovah

I am not seeing the linky, but here is what I am trying to add http://yourthrivingfamily.blogspot.com/2011/12/advent-for-mamas-heart.html
Hi Sara-
This is actually just the “about” page for the hop. If you go to the main page, you’ll find this week’s post where you can add your link. Sorry for the confusion!
