Ever since I announced my brand new Homestead Hack feature last week, the ideas have been pouring in! I’ve had a blast looking through all of your brilliant ideas.
What’s a “Homestead Hack?”
Good question. Here is how Wikipedia explains it:
“Life hacking refers to any productivity trick, shortcut, skill, or novelty method to increase productivity and efficiency, in all walks of life; in other words, anything that solves an everyday problem in a clever or non-obvious way”
Apply that definition to homesteading, and that, my friends, is a Homestead Hack.
Today’s Homestead Hack is…
A clever DIY waterer for ducks and geese– from Erin at Blue Yurt Farms.
If you’ve ever had ducklings or goslings, then you know how messy they can be. Our baby geese this year could destroy a freshly cleaned stall in mere minutes. 😉
I love Erin’s idea for these homemade jug waterers– talk about being creative and frugal at the same time! All you need is an old vinegar jug and a pair of scissors– just be sure to cut your hole small enough so the babies can’t crawl inside.
I can’t wait to give them a try next time around.
Thanks for sharing your clever idea with us Erin!
