I’m putting out an SOS for the inside of my poor oven. It’s a mess. I considered taking a picture to show you just how bad it really is, but I didn’t want to gross you out. Seriously.
I quit using conventional oven cleaners a long time ago. Considering that half of the bottle is taken up with warning labels and hazardous material signs, I figured that perhaps they weren’t the greatest thing to have in my home. (Especially when you are using them in a small, confined space like your oven and you have your head shoved inside…)
Buuuut, unfortunately my old stand-bys of baking soda and vinegar just aren’t cutting it this time. Sure, I imagine they would be fine for a quick wipe-down but we are way past the wipe-down stage at my house. It’s bad.
I’ve tried letting them soak on, but even then I can just baaarely scrape the top layer of gunk off. I need something more effective, but not toxic.
So, I’m putting out a
desperate plea request to my dear readers: how do YOU naturally clean your oven?
I’m looking for recipes, remedies, techniques, and tips. Have a product that makes the job infinitely easier? Tell me about it! I’m desperate, folks.
Here’s how it’s gonna work:
Leave me a comment with your best ideas and techniques for natural oven cleaning (or if you have a blog, leave the link to a blog post). Once I collect the ideas, I’ll run a side-by-side test to see what works the best and post the results here(complete with pictures)! Anyone who contributes will get a link in the main post.
So, I’m excited to see everyone’s ideas. I would love to be able to pre-heat my oven without setting off the smoke alarm. I need all the help I can get! 😉
